2024 in Review
2024 was certainly a year of transition for me from both a personal and professional perspective. I believe it’s important to reflect on our accomplishments to help us celebrate our successes and acknowledge how far we've come. Considering in January 2024 I wasn’t weight bearing and had not created any Sunset Patterns products to sell - I’ve come a long way!
Personal
I started off the year post major ankle surgery unable to put weight on my left leg, using a knee walker to get around. This didn’t slow me down!
Abby & I with me rocking the knee walker
I learned to crochet while the family skied in Sutton, Quebec. It’s amazing how many games you can play when you are cabin bound and the skiing conditions are less than ideal!
I saw Madonna in concert (a lifelong dream of mine).
Ready for the show!
Check out my fancy footwear for Madonna!
February was the start of my ankle rehab and I’ve come a long way but it’s still a work in progress.
I spent a wintery week in Nova Scotia with Abby in late February.
I joined the family on a trip to Punta Cana in March.
I finished a Crystal Cluster quilted pillow (Elizabeth Hartman design) + the quilt top of Satsuma (Holly Clarke design) + Sunset Patterns quilted banner.
I watched a total solar eclipse (amazing!!!!)
Two sewing retreats on an island with friends.
Geoff and I celebrated 25 years of marriage! ♥️
Spent a wonderful two months in Nova Scotia with many visitors, 50th anniversary of our family games, fun golf matches and some Sunset Patterns work sprinkled in.
Thanksgiving in Nova Scotia with my first ever sighting of the Aurora Borealis.
Road trip to Detroit with 23 close friends to support Malcolm Christie in his first year playing basketball with Oakland University. Go Grizzlies!
Family trip to Vietnam and Cambodia to end 2024 and kick off 2025.
Professionally
I started to post regularly on social media. This was a big stretch for me. Prior to Sunset Pattern I posted no more than 15 times in my life.
I completed three courses:
I took hundreds and hundreds of photos for inspiration (flowers, boats, you name it, I took a picture of it 🙂)
Website and online store created.
I had my first sale! 🎉
Completed my first custom design job for a customer!
I completed a 100 day drawing challenge (or most of it at least).
I had my first Sunset Patterns photo shoot.
